Kazuya Usui

羽水克哉

As a performance painter, Kazuya Usui is a highly popular artist in Japan. In Kazuya's performances, the audience takes a journey to the pre-modern Edo period. He paints traditional motifs, such as dragons, samurai or koi with ink. His style derives from Japanese calligraphy. Consequently, Kazuya always appears in kimono and his performances are musically accompanied by Shamisen, Taiko or Koto.

This is Kazuya's fourth time at the Main Matsuri and his live paintings will once again be auctioned off on site.
