Hanafugetsu (華風月) is a Japanese acoustic trio blending piano & vocals with traditional instruments: Yuko Suzuhana (piano/vocals, often with additional stage performance), Daisuke Kaminaga (shakuhachi), and Kiyoshi Ibukuro (13- & 25-string koto).
Often described as an early blueprint for the later cross-genre approach of WagakkiBand, Hanafugetsu creates a sound where Japanese timbres flow naturally into contemporary songwriting—simultaneously modern and gently nostalgic.
Beyond concerts, the group is active in school performances, workshops, and charity events, and the members also work widely as composers/arrangers and session musicians for outside productions and recordings.
