Kiyoshi Ibukuro (いぶくろ聖志) is a Japanese koto (箏) player and composer recognized for bringing the instrument into a bold, contemporary context. He gained international visibility as the koto specialist of WagakkiBand, a genre-blending project that fuses traditional Japanese instrumentation with rock/metal intensity. The official band profile notes that he was born in Tokyo and has been active since his high-school years, with early appearances including a performance in China through a cultural program and overseas concerts across multiple countries in Asia and the Middle East.
Ibukuro’s personal artistry is defined by story-driven compositions and a strong focus on expanding the koto’s possibilities—especially through collaborations with Western instruments as well as traditional ensembles. His official website highlights participation in performances in 12+ countries, publications of original and arranged score collections, and his involvement in supervising the cultural koto “Shirasagi (白鷺)”. He is also a member of Hanafugetsu (華風月) and REN (蓮-REN-).
Beyond music, he acts as a cultural ambassador (incl. Fukuyama’s traditional industries) and produces the kimono brand “Hananotoki (花季節 -ハナノトキ-)”.
