Taiko-ist TAKUYA

Takuya Taniguchi is a Japanese solo taiko performer from Fukui (Hokuriku region), widely praised for high-impact, precise, and physically powerful stage performances. His official profile describes him as one of the very few outstanding solo taiko players, and he has been based in Munich, Germany since 2011.

He started playing taiko at the age of three, founded TENRYU-DAIKO at 16, and won a special prize at the Viennese World Youth Music Festival in July 2002. In 2003, he was accepted into the ensemble of taiko master Eitetsu Hayashi, FUUN-NO-KAI.

Since 2011, Taniguchi has been a regular member of the German drum group DRUMATURGIA, touring extensively across Europe and Japan. His profile also notes performances in more than 24 countries.

In recent years, he has been expanding into concert-hall oriented formats and collaborations (including work with European orchestras). In January 2024, he was appointed Furusato Ambassador for Eiheiji, Fukui.
