Yohei Hamabata

浜端ヨウヘイ

Yohei Hamabata (浜端ヨウヘイ) was born  in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture. After graduating from high school in Uji, he studied for four years at the University of Kochi Prefecture. He then moved to Naha, Okinawa, but after some time returned to his home region of Kyoto. There, he worked as an English interpreter while simultaneously beginning to build his career through live performances. At the age of 29, he quit his job to dedicate himself fully to music, and from then on performed across Japan as a singer-songwriter.

A major turning point in his career came after gaining experience as an opening act for Masayoshi Yamazaki. He subsequently moved to Tokyo and joined Office Augusta, the home of artists such as SUKIMASWITCH and Motohiro Hata. He made his official debut in November 2014 with the single “結 -yui-“. Over the following years, he steadily expanded his profile, also gaining experience as a radio host and actor, and released four singles, four mini albums, and two full-length albums.

In 2024, Yohei ended his exclusive contract with Office Augusta and has since released an EP, two singles, and an album independently—clearly underlining his artistic autonomy. Musically, he connects his songs to the different phases of his travels, continually broadening his creative range. On stage, he accompanies himself on guitar and piano with an effortless sense of virtuosity. His powerful songs—rich in genuine humanity—together with his distinctive voice captivate audiences instantly.

Alongside his career as a singer-songwriter, Yohei also works as a radio presenter, actor, and voice artist. Offstage, his greatest passion is curry: he cooks it daily, experiments with new variations, and enthusiastically explores new curry restaurants.
